To become an FE College of Sanctuary, colleges must ensure that the entire college community (students, teachers, other school staff, partners) have opportunities to learn about what it means to be seeking sanctuary and the issues surrounding forced migration. College staff should also have opportunities to become better aware of the needs of students from sanctuary seeking backgrounds and how to meet them effectively.

Here we have compiled a selection or resources and advice to help collegess fulfill the relevant learn criteria.

1) Training and awareness-raising opportunities are provided for college staff and
senior management on refugee, asylum, trafficking and migration issues.

2) Commit to raising awareness of sanctuary issues amongst students. This might be through the curriculum, where relevant, or as additional sessions such as during
the student induction.
